O’Romeo hits Prime Video on rental
Vishal Bhardwaj’s Shahid Kapoor-Triptii Dimri starrer O’Romeo arrived on Amazon Prime Video this week, but not in conventional fashion. The film became available for rent on March 27 before moving to regular subscription-based streaming in April. This approach is similar to the arrangement Prime Video had with Anurag Kashyap’s crime saga Nishaanchi.
O’Romeo, which released theatrically on February 13, is a romantic action thriller set in 1990s Mumbai and based on the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai by Hussain Zaidi. The Indian Express’s Shubhra Gupta rated the film 2.5 out of 5 stars, describing it as “high on style and swag, low on substance.”
Meanwhile, the war drama Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh and directed by Anurag Singh, arrived on Netflix on March 20, approximately eight weeks after its theatrical debut.
