Dhamaal 4 songs draw strong mixed reactions from fans

The soundtrack of ‘Dhamaal 4’ has received a mixed response from listeners, with reactions ranging from praise for its nostalgic energy to criticism over one of its recreated tracks. The film, directed by Indra Kumar, was released in cinemas on July 10.

The soundtrack has been composed by Rohansh Pandit and Abeer Pandit, with lyrics written by Kumaar, Anvita Dutt, Kausar Munir and the Pandit duo. The first single, ‘Chatni’, featuring Ravi Kishan, was released on June 15 and was pitched as a new party anthem for fans. The second single, ‘Qeher’, featuring Guru Randhawa, followed on June 19.

The third single, ‘Saree’, released on June 28, is a Hindi recreation of Marathi singer Sanju Rathod’s 2024 viral hit ‘Gulabi Sadi’. The recreation retains the original melody but features a new musical arrangement by Tanishk Bagchi and new Hindi lyrics by Kumaar. The adaptation drew a mixed reaction from fans of the original track, with some pointing out that the recreation was missing the involvement of G-Spark, who had produced the original version.

‘Gulabi Sadi’ had become a major social media phenomenon after its release in February 2024, inspiring more than 3.7 million reels and its signature hook step being recreated by celebrities including Madhuri Dixit. The song was ranked second on Hindustan Times’ list of the top 10 Indie songs of 2024.

A new track titled ‘Paisa Lao’ was also released on the film’s opening day. Alongside the music, the film itself has received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences, with several viewers on social media platform X praising its comic timing and nostalgia value while others criticised its humour and use of background music, including a scene using the ‘Bella Ciao’ track from the series ‘Money Heist’.

‘Dhamaal 4’ stars Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Jaaved Jaaferi, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Upendra Limaye, Anjali Anand, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Esha Gupta. It is the fourth instalment in the franchise, following ‘Dhamaal’, ‘Double Dhamaal’ and ‘Total Dhamaal’.
