Sunita Ahuja withdraws divorce petition against actor Govinda

Sunita Ahuja has formally withdrawn her divorce petition against her husband and Bollywood actor Govinda at the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai. The development was confirmed by Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha, who stated that there is no active separation between the couple.

The legal case was initially filed by Sunita Ahuja in December 2024, citing grounds of adultery, cruelty, and desertion under Section 13 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. The couple has been married since March 1987 and shares two children, Tina Ahuja and Yashvardhan Ahuja.

Sunita Ahuja was spotted exiting the family court alongside her son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, where she submitted the petition for withdrawal. When questioned by reporters regarding her appearance at the court, she refrained from discussing the legal matter and stated that she came to celebrate a birthday.

The withdrawal follows a period of heightened public tension and media scrutiny surrounding the marriage. Govinda recently broke his silence to issue a public warning regarding statements made by his wife, urging her to refrain from using abusive words in public and to be mindful of the example being set for younger audiences.

The actor also defended his professional associations with younger co-stars, stating that Sunita Ahuja was attempting to damage his reputation and business interest.

Shashi Sinha expressed disappointment over how the private family dispute was handled by the media over the last two years. The manager noted that family matters should remain private and highlighted that Govinda has maintained a neutral stance since the beginning of the legal proceedings.
