Preetisheel Singh D’souza raves about Akshay Kumar’s dedication to art
Elated at all the critical acclaim for his looks as the messenger of Lord Shiva in OMG 2
With Akshay Kumar’s look as the messenger of Lord Shiva in the critically acclaimed OMG 2 (the sequel to his 2012 hit satirical comedy Oh My God!), becoming the talk of the town, the look’s curator, Preetisheel Singh D’souza, is elated.
Preetisheel is no stranger to makeovers! The National Award-winning character designer has curated breathtaking looks for actors in movies such as Gangubai Kathiawadi, Padmaavat, Mulk, Haider, Rangoon, Bunty Aur Babli 2, Housefull 4, Chup: Revenge of the Artist, Pushpa: The Rise, and the upcoming films Ghoomer and Jawan. Her makeup and prosthetic outfit, Da Makeup Lab, is well-known as India’s premier go-to studio for Bollywood filmmakers.
Akshay Kumar has worked with Preetisheel for a couple of projects earlier, like the film Brothers, and for a ‘pregnant’ look she designed for him for The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Also, for the Livguard advertisement, where he donned the looks of Albert Einstein and Bruce Lee.
They also worked together for movies such as Bachchan Pandey and Ram Setu, apart from Housefull 4, which emerged as a box-office blockbuster with Akshay’s song “Bala Bala, shaitaan ka saala” becoming a rage. Around the same time, Preetisheel designed triple role looks for him, for the famous Kurkure advertisement in which he played a son, father, as well as a grandfather.
“Akshay not only gives me the creative freedom to curate different looks for him but also always goes all out to ensure that the characters stand out with his performances,” quips Preetisheel. “He always gives his hundred percent, which compliments the looks,” adds the makeover specialist.
The captivating film showcases Akshay’s mesmerizing portrayal in his unique role. The actor looks dashing adorned with ash on his face, dressed in a traditional dhoti, and sporting dreadlocks that cascade down to his knees. The captivating avatar has left everyone in awe.
The movie has tackled various aspects of the Indian education system, delving into topics like sex education, exam pressures and college admissions, all while weaving a humorous narrative. It’s also been a treat for AK fans as OMG 2 lives up to the legacy of its predecessor and creates new benchmarks in the world of Bollywood comedies, that too with a strong social message.
